GATEKEEPER - Overview
Meet the Gatekeeper

The product competencies of Gatekeeper create the most valuable chemical management environment for preliminary screening, approval tracking, inventory management and chemical accountability available today.

Preliminary Screening

Gatekeeper starts a chemical analysis with a comprehensive library of lists vigilantly researched and continually updated from federal, state and local sources. When seeking to identify and isolate particular chemicals for ISO 14000 or ISO 9000 goals, or reference organization specific lists of prohibited chemicals, they can be easily appended to the preliminary screening library. Once having identified the chemical to be brought on site Gatekeeper will immediately let you know if it's hazardous, a carcinogen, a hazardous air pollutant (HAP), contains ingredients that require reporting, or is banned from your facility. Gatekeeper also keeps track of prior approvals so you can quickly find a chemical that has been permitted for use at your facility or at remote locations.

Full Tracking of Chemicals from Request to Receipt

Gatekeeper maintains the intelligence of chemical approval and purchase authorization within the facility and throughout the organization. Once the preliminary chemical screen is completed, the approval process is launched with submissions automatically routed to appropriate personnel. At any given time you can check the status of a request at any point in the organization. While the request is being processed, the Actio CMS system puts the MSDS into your MSDS Vault ensuring that your employees are OSHA compliant with ready access to hazardous information.

ERP systems like SAP, PeopleSoft or Oracle, provide inventory information based on manufacturing quantities and financial reporting requirements. Gatekeeper's devices track inventory down to micro-locations so you know what inventory is located at what facility, who requested it and who authorized the purchase. This streamlines rebalancing and repurposing of inventory and shows cross-usage of chemicals across all facilities. Inventory data can be synchronized with an ERP system alleviating the need to enter historical inventory data.

Supply Chain Integration

Whether you require all chemical purchases to go through a central purchasing department or allow scientists to use their Pcard to purchase research quantities of chemicals, Gatekeeper drives the integration of the request function to the approval and purchase of a chemical. This integration removes purchasing bottlenecks, provides significantly better data management and reduces the subsequent handling costs of the chemical when it arrives on site. Supply chain integration can be configured with existing ERP systems, supply chains like Ariba or supplier links can be imbedded in Gatekeeper.

Project View

Ever wish you could manage a product or project composed of a myriad of chemicals? Whether the project is painting a conference room or development of a new pharmaceutical preparation, Gatekeeper's Project management let's you manage the chemicals and components in a collaborative work environment. Chemicals added to a Project can automatically enter the authorization and approval stages, removing the iterative handling that goes on during product development. Streamlining the development process means faster time to completion whether it's bringing a product to market or completion of a project. Gatekeeper's Project Management functionality also creates a standard product record for BOM (build of materials) management and enables you to append process flow or specifications to the project so you have a permanent record. Increased coordination and the automatic handling of environmental, hazmat and regulatory considerations will provide significant cost savings.
